Child Protection Policy

The purpose of this policy is to support the right of every individual to achieve his or her inherent potential within a safe and supportive biological family setting which is capable of nurturing its members to become all that they are able to be, and is free from violence and oppression.

To this end IOSIS-family solutions is committed to the protection of the vulnerable, and to the principle of the ‘Paramountcy of the Child’, ie: ‘that the safety and welfare of children shall be given first priority in all situations’.

It shall be the objective of the whole range of services comprising IOSIS-family solutions that:

  1. All Iosis Policies & Procedures and organisational initiatives will be assessed for their capacity to promote the best interests of Children and their Families.

  2. Iosis Ltd will ensure that an appropriate employee will be designated to a Child Advocate Role and will be supported with training and procedures to fulfil this role. They will be involved in the development and review of child protection policies and practices.

  3. Staffing Policies will:

    • Check & maintain information that establishes the suitability of all staff and contracted practitioners to work with children including Police Checks at recruitment and relevant reference checking.
    • Orientation for all Staff will establish the employee level of knowledge of Positive Parenting and include up-skilling to Basic Competency in the Induction Plan where necessary.
    • Orientation for all Staff will establish employee knowledge of the effects of abuse and neglect, including witnessing family violence, and Induction Plans will include attendance at relevant Core Training on the topic.
    • Orientation for all staff will establish employee knowledge of Indicators of Abuse, how to respond to disclosures of Abuse, and Dynamics of Family Violence.
    • Ongoing Professional Development Plans will ensure that employees work towards achieving desirable levels of understanding and competency to respond appropriately in all the above areas.
    • All Paid & Unpaid Staff working with children shall have oversight by an appropriate person trained in child focused issues.

  4. Site Management will ensure that maintenance or construction workers working onsite where clients and/or their children are present, are monitored at all times.

  5. Prevention of Child Abuse is a priority focus of all work with families. This will be addressed through provision of positive parenting information & education as an integral part of all service delivery.

  6. Reporting of Child Abuse suspected or detected in the course of service provision by any Iosis staff will follow the procedure outlined. (ref Iosis Child Protection Practice Policy: Reporting Procedure.)

ruby1.jpgThe name IOSIS is a greek work meaning "the process by which a base metal becomes gold". It is the power of a miraculous transformation and it is our inspiration.

We believe strongly in the power of transformation in people's lives; that despite the challenges they face, we know they can make significant changes for the sake of their children. We are committed to providing a set of practical support and learning processes to encourage, educate and come alongside families who are struggling to change habits of violence, addiction and offending to help them create a safe and secure environment for the children.p_2.gif
