Family Therapist/Parenting Coach


Merivale Whanau Development centre is a residential parenting programme for mothers and children facing challenging personal issues operated by Iosis-Family Solutions; a multi-disciplinary, Christian social service provider in South Auckland.

This is an exciting new opportunity to join our small team of dedicated professionals to coach and support staff and mothers in positive parent child interaction while strengthened by improved connection with wider whanau.

You will demonstrate:
• Sound knowledge of parenting issues and strategies including child development, with a broad knowledge of different parenting models
• Ability to utilise various methods of coaching and learning
• Understanding of whakapapa/genogram and related issues of belonging and cultural identity, particularly for Maori
• Sound knowledge of family conflict, whanau violence, substance abuse, parenting and care and protection issues
• Proven commitment to Family Centred Strengths Based Practice.

A qualification in Counselling and a current membership with NZAC is a requirement of the position.
