Our Values

FAMILY
We believe that family is a critical place of learning and development for children. Our focus is on strengthening relationships within the family unit with the aim of creating safety and security for all members. Our priority is to work with those families in which destructive patterns of behaviour have been developed and have caused abuse or neglect. These if not addressed, can lead to long term damage and intergenerational patterns of harm.
We are committed to the restoration of parent/child relationship and other members of the biological family wherever possible. In all of this we seek the best interests of children, primarily their safety and long-term physical and emotional development.

FAITH
Our work is inspired by the life of Jesus Christ. Our relationships and practice will be consistent with His life and his principles. We will incorporate practices of prayer and worship, which keep us connected to Him relationally. We will consistently and intentionally remember that Christ is amongst us; enabling us, inspiring us, and partnering with us in all that we do.

TRANSFORMATION
We believe in the miracle of a transformed life. That it is never impossible for a person or family to make significant positive changes to their behaviour and family-life.
We believe that it is imperative to recognise the individual strength in each member of the family, and to build networks of support around the entire family. We will seek to walk famlies through the process of life-change through a combination of learning, coaching, and practical support.
We believe there is an element of mystery to the change process, in which God is active, bringing enlightenment and hope.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
We believe that the process of change for families involves an element of learning that is experiential. In order for people to create places of safety, there is a need to move beyond the exchange of words alone, to an experience of learning that is both tangible and physical, which families can then reproduce on their own. In our residential work, group work, and work in homes, we provide teaching on strategies and concepts around relationships and best parenting. Alongside these, we believe that it is most effective to also incorporate an interactive and experiential element. It may be that we demonstrate qualities such as compassion, forgiveness, negotiation, and healthy ways to manage conflict. We know that in order for this to have integrity, we must be persons that model these values in our own lives and in our work relationships.

PARTNERSHIP
We aim to work in partnership with community organisations that have goals consistent with our own. We will seek wherever possible, to be collaborative in our approach, complementing and supporting one another through respectful relationships with both statutory and community agencies.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH
We have integrated our range of services into one cohesive unit in order to be most effective in responding to needs of the family in a manner that is best for them.
We are committed to integrating the work of professionals, together with skills of non-professional support workers and volunteers in ways that are most effective. We seek to put the family at the centre, shaping our work around their needs and goals.

TREATY OF WAITANGI
Te Tiriti O Waitangi is a foundational document in New Zealand, which outlines the commitment of citizens to Tangata Whenua. We therefore look to this document to guide our practice and relationships between ourselves as workers, and with our clients. We believe the Treaty makes a commitment to Tangata Whenua with the goal of having equal social outcomes, and that this is not currently their experience. In our work, we will consistently evaluate how we can be most effective in this goal for Maori.

ruby1.jpgThe name IOSIS is a greek work meaning "the process by which a base metal becomes gold". It is the power of a miraculous transformation and it is our inspiration.

We believe strongly in the power of transformation in people's lives; that despite the challenges they face, we know they can make significant changes for the sake of their children. We are committed to providing a set of practical support and learning processes to encourage, educate and come alongside families who are struggling to change habits of violence, addiction and offending to help them create a safe and secure environment for the children.p_2.gif
