Become a Caregiver

girl_baking.jpg Although the majority of our work focuses around keeping a child safe in the context of their natural family and community, there are times when this is simply not possible for various reasons, and the child requires an alternative safe, stable, nurturing environment in which to grow and develop.

Foster Care involves taking one or more children into your home and care on a short-term or long-term basis. Foster Care has been part of Iosis since the its inception as Baptist Action with an orphanage in the late 1800s and has continued through to today.

We have several foster care families that we support in the community. All caregivers are trained and supported around the clock by an experience social worker.

If you are interested in becoming a Foster Carer and making a difference in the lives of our precious young children, please contact us. We are presently in need of caregivers from all backgrounds who would be available to take children into their home in both short and long-term capacity. Please find below some information on Caregiving and contact us if you are interested in further info.

How do I know if I would qualify as a Caregiver?

If you love for children and have a safe home with one or more spare bedrooms, then you are qualified. You will undergo an interview process which includes police checks and a medical assessment to ensure you can provide safe care for our children.

What are the payments like?

We provide a nominal payment per night for the care of our children. Caregiving is not a paid position but it is enough to cover your expenses in caring for our children. The payments are tax-free and are made on a fort-nightly basis. We will also cover any additional or emergency costs which arrive for the child(ren).

Will there be training?

Yes, we do initial training to teach you some vital information you need to care for our children. We also provide ongoing training and workshops for you to continually increase your skill and understanding.

What if I'm working but I still want to be a Caregiver?

We are looking for all types of caregivers, people who are employed full-time, part-time or home during the day. We are also able to provide additional support in the form of after-school care if necessary for those who are working. Or perhaps you would be interested in doing some weekend respite for our other full-time caregivers. There are many opportunities and arrangements and we'd like to speak with you if you are interested but have questions regarding this.

ruby2.jpgThe name IOSIS is a greek word meaning "the process by which a base metal becomes gold". It is the power of a miraculous transformation and it is our inspiration.

We believe strongly in the power of transformation in people's lives; that despite the challenges they face, we know they can make significant changes for the sake of their children. We are committed to providing a set of practical support and learning processes to encourage, educate and come alongside families who are struggling to change habits of violence, addiction and offending to help them create a safe and secure environment for the children.p_2.gif
