Parenting Courses
Parenting is the hardest job we ever have to do and the one we get the least training in. Every parent wants to be a good parent and raise happy, secure children. We are somehow, automatically expected to know how to meet all our children’s needs, manage their behaviour, train them in life skills and help them become happy well adjusted adults! Unfortunately it’s not that easy and most of us have to learn the skills needed to parent successfully.
Toolbox for parents of 0-5 year olds by Parents Inc is a great programme that teaches parents/caregivers some ways to build loving supportive relationships with their children and manage behaviour effectively without ‘losing it’.
Parenting ToolBox for parents of 6-12 yr olds helps parents understand those middle years. They are your window of opportunity to stay connected, teach skills and build memories. It is now that children learn about right and wrong, and most important of all, it is during these years that they are still interested in what you, as a parent, think!
Teen ToolBox for parents of Teenagers will provide you with the skills and strategies needed to be the parent you have always hoped to be in those challenging teen years.
If you would like to join in some fun, friendly learning contact Diane Crowe about any of the above courses on 09 269 1406 diane.crowe@iosis.org.nz
Kids Feeling Safe is a fun programme designed to help children who have experienced domestic violence to feel safe, more confident and to help them to learn healthy ways to cope with their experiences. In the club children will find they are not alone, that other children have experiences similar to theirs.
Parenting Through Separation is a free information programme to help you help your kids when you separate with opportunities for you to ask questions and problem-solve parenting issues. You will be given brochures and two free DVDs - with interviews with New Zealand parents and children who have experienced separation.

Mens Development Programme is a course run specifically for men based on the belief that "if a man is "right" he has the potential to change his whare". It enables men to grow out of their past dilemas into the potential to be all that they can be. Referrals for this programme are received from those who have completed some past courses in anger managment, drug or alcohol counselling or counselling/therapy and is open to all those with a willingness to participate and attend all sessions required. For more information on the MenD programme contact John Thrush - Social Worker/Programme Facilitator on 09 269 0050 xtn 9107 or john.thrush@iosis.org.nz
